After Pentecost, the Scriptures suggest that little time passed until the stoning of Stephen and the scattering of the church. (See also John 20:11-18.) How many days after Jesus' death was Pentecost? God has brought himself close to us in a human way via his Son. Neither feast was a significant part of my Baptist upbringing, and while Baptist (and similar) congregations today occasionally commemorate Pentecost (the birthday of the church), the feast of the Ascension has been mostly forgotten.
